How LYNX develops products

Good ideas still have to prove themselves.

We begin with a clear use, build for the way the product will be carried, test the result, revise what falls short, and release only a version we can repeat and support.

The development process

A working prototype is where the real work begins.

Each stage answers a different question. When testing exposes a problem, we go back to the source, make the correction, and test the affected work again.

    Define

    Decide what it needs to do

    Identify who it is for, where it may be used, how it will be carried, and what it must accomplish.

  2. 02

    Integrate

    Make the parts work together

    Place each part so it attaches, nests, and remains easy to reach without getting in the way of the rest of the load.

  3. 03

    Prototype

    Build a real sample

    Create something that can be assembled, carried, opened, and handled. A workbench test is not enough.

  4. 04

    Evaluate

    Carry it and use it

    Check access, retention, upkeep, weight, and bulk in the way the product is meant to be carried.

    Revise

    Fix what falls short

    Remove, replace, or simplify the part of the design that created the problem, then test it again.

    Release

    Make it repeatable

    Approve a version we can reproduce, identify the revision, publish the details, and provide a clear support path.

What we check

Every part has to justify the space it takes.

We consider the benefit and the burden together: how well it works, where it sits, how much space and weight it adds, and how easy it is to maintain or replace.

ClarityCan we explain what it does, where it fits, and what its limits are?

Product status

Plain labels for where the work stands.

Product status shows how far the work has progressed and whether the product is available to buy. The details on each product page explain what is confirmed today.

    We are defining who it is for, what it needs to do, and how it will be carried.

  2. 02
    Design

    We are working out how the parts fit together and where the product's limits are.

  3. 03
    Prototype

    A working sample is being built or tested.

  4. 04
    Field testing

    We are checking the proposed version against the requirements for release.

  5. 05
    Production ready

    The design is approved and can be made consistently.

  6. 06
    Released

    The product is available to buy through SRO.

  7. 07
    Revision

    We are testing a change to a product that is already released.

VECTOR

Released / REV 01

VECTOR is available through SRO as four separate field-cooking products: a 750 ml titanium pot, flat-packing panel stove, 215 mm long-handle spork, and steel tripod board.

TRACE

TRACE is a customizable identification system with a genuine CORDURA® EDC Wrap® face and a six-layer TEGRIS backer that locks into compatible PALS/MOLLE webbing.

NEXUS

NEXUS remains in development. Final dimensions, materials, mounting options, and configuration details are still under review.
